Vourvourou

Vourvourou lies in Sithonia, at the NE of the middle peninsula of Halkidiki, and thanks to its unique geomorphology is a worldwide holiday destination. Vourvourou combines seaside, semi-mountainous and mountainous ecosystems of particular interest and beauty. Being in the geographic territory of the old traditional village of Agios Nikolaos (12 km), it was cultivated by its inhabitants, mostly with vines and olive trees. The gulf of Vourvourou is a part of a wider area of the European ecological network Natura 2000 and extends in kilometers embracing the island of Diaporos and nine smaller islands and islets. The island of Diaporos, covered in its larger part with pine forest and shrubs of great diversity, is an autonomous protected ecosystem. On its seashore you will enjoy sandy beaches and shallow warm water, ideal for the first visitors of the area, while for the hikers the interior hides trails that cross the island from side to side. Rent a small boat and explore its isolated beaches, always respecting the nature that host us, gathering our garbage and driving responsibly our boat to everyone's safety.

Dragoudeli mountain

The mountainous ecosystem of Dragoudelis rises sharply as a natural continuation of the beaches of the eastern coast of Sithonia and hosts three species of pine (Aleppo, Black pine and pine cone), low and high maquis (such as Arbutus unedo, Pistacia lentiscus, Olea europaea Myrtus communis myrtle, wild lavender Lavandula stoechas or, more rarely, cedars) shrubs and brushwood in the southernmost of the peninsula. Organize your visit to the forest either walking or by car, study the routes with us, get informed about protecting yourself and the forest from the dangers of fire. Visit the site Itamos, a listed monument of nature. There grows the oldest representative (about 2000 years old) of the Itamos family in Greece and the rest of Europe. Enjoy the sunset at the restored mountainous village of Parthenon to the west of the mountain.

On the NE part of Halkidiki is situated Old Stageira, Aristotle's birthplace, and its interactive theme park. The third peninsula of Halkidiki, the peninsula of Athos, has been the most important center of Orthodox monasticism since the end of the 10th century and is one of the world's top cultural heritage monuments.
